A Seeding Crew Built Around the Rainy Season
Hydroseeding Los Angeles sprays seed, fiber mulch and fertilizer for homeowners, builders and property managers across the city and the valleys and foothills around it. Our work falls into six kinds of jobs: new lawns on prepared ground, builder and commercial seeding, slope and erosion control, silt fence and storm drain protection, grading and topsoil, and native and wildflower seeding for hillsides and low-water yards.
Los Angeles is a hard place to grow anything from seed, and an easy place to lose soil. The city is classed as semi-arid, with only about 35 days of measurable rain in an average year and almost none of it in summer. Then a run of winter storms can send mud off a bare hillside in an afternoon. The city's building code treats October 1 through April 15 as the rainy season and expects graded hillside slopes to be planted and irrigated. That calendar drives how we schedule, price and prepare every job.
We also deal with very different ground from one neighborhood to the next. Sandy valley soil drains in hours. Hillside cuts in the Santa Monica and San Gabriel foothills are steep and dry. Lots near the coast stay cool and gray into early summer. A crew that seeds the whole city the same way loses a lot of seed.
Our approach on an LA job
- Before any number goes on paper, someone from our crew looks at the ground and tells you what stands out: soil, slope, sun, irrigation and drainage
- Your written estimate lists prep, seed mix, mulch type and any erosion control as separate lines
- We match the seed to the yard: cool-season, warm-season or a native mix
- We time the spray around heat waves, Santa Ana wind and the first storms
- On graded lots, the fabric fence and drain guards are set first, while the soil is still covered
- You get written watering instructions for your yard and your sprinkler setup
- We come back to look at thin spots and tell you plainly what caused them
We do not sell sod and we do not push one product. If sod, dry seed or simply better irrigation is the right answer for your yard, we will say so.
Ring (213) 451-4997, or fill in the estimate form, and we will book a free look at your property.
